Second House

The second house of the horoscope specifies about the wealth, family, treasure, eye, the face of a male, voice, pleasant appearance and complexion, pearls, silver etc. and helps us to contemplate on these matters.

The second house is called Dhana bhava or the house of wealth. The other objects that concern this house are family (it is also called Kutumba bhava), treasury, eyes, face, speech, selling and buying, gold, pearls, silver etc.
 
The second house of the horoscope is also called 'Dhanesh' (lord of wealth). If an auspicious planet is combined with the Dhanesh and is present in the second house of the horoscope, it gives benefits in the things connected with wealth.

The 2nd house represents the personal assets of a person. It is analyzed by checking the impact of the planets in the second house and their aspects, the lord of the second house and the sign on the cusp of the second house.

The 2nd house is the most specific regarding the resources that the soul has at its disposal for this particular journey on Earth. Thus we first evaluate the 'health' of the 2nd house to determine general prosperity. Conditions for a healthy 2nd house include having 'good' planets, especially Jupiter or Venus, either in or influencing the 2nd house, and having the lord of the house (the planet that rules the zodiacal sign located in the 2nd house) in a strong and beneficial placement, such as being placed in one of the power houses (the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th), in a favorable sign, and/or associated with one of the benefic planets.

Parts of the Body

Throat and the ears are the main parts of the body signified by the second house. It generally rules the organs like nose, throat, mouth, tongue, teeth and eyes, especially the right one), facial bones, upper neck and its bones, gullet, larynx, cerebellum, trachea, cervical region and cervical bones, tonsils, etc. Implication of poor digestion, disorders of speech, throat, cervical, gums, eyes, teeth, etc., and diseases mainly arising out of a weak venous system shows a weak second house in your natal chart.

The Second House is commonly referred to as the House of Possessions. Using our possessions, including material goods, to maximum advantage is also within the realm of the Second House.
 
Our possessions should enhance our lives and those of others, and foster a general sense of well-being. This brings forth the concept of value, which is key to the Second House. What do we value, both tangibly and intangibly? While this speaks to that which we own, it's not limited simply to tangible things.

Why do we value it? Who do we value? What do we really own? What do we want to own? Why? We own our feelings and emotions, as well as our inner selves, abilities, needs and wants. When we own up to something, we are in fact claiming ownership of our greatest possession, our self. Our effective resolution of these questions is a large part of what the Second House is all about.

Specific possessions covered by the Second House include earned income and our ability to influence it, investments and moveable property (cars, clothing, jewelry and the like). Debt is also part of the equation here, since we own the responsibility to pay our bills. How we view money, the acquisition of wealth (and debt), financial reversals, savings, budgeting and financial status are all ruled by the Second House.

For those of us who believe that money will set us free, it's interesting to note that this maxim finds a home in the Second House. Personal freedoms as established by financial capability and sensibility are addressed within this house. To a great extent, our possessions and what we do with them help to define us as viable human beings. Taking it a step further, will these material goods help us gain social standing, recognition, friendship and love? Used properly, they very well might. Therefore, the goal implicit in one's possessions could be defined as the ability to use those possessions honestly and to our best advantage and for the greater good. If our possessions work for us and those around us, what more could we ask? Well, one more question does come to mind: what goes around comes around? Sounds about right!

The Second Bhava called Dhana sthana, deals with money matters, one's deposits, income tax, customs, computers, represents your wealth, speech, family, face, right eye, mouth and the food you eat, charity and death, education, manner and source of death, self-acquisition and optimism.
 
The Second House is also known as Dhana Bhava and represents finances,bank balances,gold and precious metals,gemstones,family,longevity of wife,speech,food,clothes and death of native.It also represents the face and right eye from the physical perspective. Houses are also known as Bhavas in jyotisha.Bhava means feeling and in short it represents what kind of feelings the native will have towards a particualr area of life denoted by the particular house of bhava. The second house is signified by money as well as financial matters and indicates the financial circumstances or fortune, gain or profit. The financial prosperity or otherwise of the native is also indicated. This is the house that governs the well being of the native so that they can lead a happy life together. The native of the second house is communicative and this is the reason why they can do well in jobs that are related to communication with others.

Food

Money, speech, physical enjoyment through the senses, close friends are all related to the second house. They are an expression of what we value the most.

The body part associated with the Second house is the face, the sense organs and in particular the mouth. What goes into our mouth and what comes out of our mouth is directly correlated to our level of self-esteem. For instance, our diet generally improves as our sense of self-worth improves. We realize we get so much more out of life and can contribute so much more when our diet and routines improve. Also, we realize what comes out of our mouth, our words, have the potential to add value and meaning to our life and to the lives of others.

The 2nd house shows one’s preference in food. The planets influencing it may decide one’s favourite taste. In addition, one should avoid the tastes of the planets that are likely bringing disease. Suppose one is running a dasa or antardasa of a sign containing Moon as per dasa (a dasa that shows suffering). Then some suffering related to Moon is possible. Moon can give problems related to blood pressure as he governs blood. So eating too much salty food during such a period may result in high blood pressure.

Right eye

The second house is said to represent vision or the observational power of the individual, eye (especially the right eye), memory and imagination. Other than these, the second house also governs the Right side body parts, right eye, shoulders, reproductive organs, speech, eye sight, face, nose, tongue, teeth, chin and cheeks. The influence of the evil planets in the second house may cause moles, or scars in these regions of the body.

Face

The second house has governance over the face and in particular the teeth and eyes and will therefore forewarn of difficulties in these areas. The person may have continuing disputes or troubles emotionally and financially in married life and depending on the strength of Venus could choose not to marry at all. As the sixth house rules debts and the second, income, the person may not be able to save money and in the extreme case may rely on others in a subsistent type of life

Document

The second house represents your documents, bonds, promissory notes, mortgages, shares, securities, and other negotiable assets. In short, all that is acquired by your own resources comes under the controls of this house.

Speech

One of the important influences of the second house is that it allows the native to express his thoughts well. The house rules the element of ‘vak’, which means that it allows the native to speak well. If the ketu was in the second house, in a mute sign like Cancer or karkata, Scorpio or vrischik, or Pisces or meena, the native may be dumb. In the nativity, if the Mangala or Mars occupies the second house occupying the good aspects of Mercury or Jupiter, the native may be adept in good conversation. The presence of the moon in the second house in the positive aspect of Mars, the speech of the native will be clear.

Family

Our family and close personal friends are second house people, those closest to us. These people also affirm our values and are a reflection of them. As our values change, evolve and sometimes outgrow the values of our past, blood family members may fall by the wayside and an alternative family grows – one we have chosen in this lifetime.

The second house is the house of the family, our connection to the family, how we felt growing up and how we feel in the current family environment. Second Marriage
The second house deals with matters pertaining to marriage. This is because the second house is 8th to the 7th representing the first wife. If the first wife expires, the native is likely to go for a second marriage. Although marriage is primarily the concern of the seventh house, the second house is referred to for ascertaining the time of the marriage, description of the partner and the status of the native’s married life.

RULE – 1: MORE THAN ONE marriage is indicated if the BOTH following two conditions are ARE simultaneously satisfied:

(i) The sub-lord of the 7th cusp OR its Starlord is deposited in a dual sign(gemini,virgo,pisces) 
OR if the sub-lord of the 7th cusp is Mercury/JUP and
(ii) The sub-lord of the 7th cusp is also a significator of either of the houses 2 or 11 or both.
If any of the above two conditions is not satisfied, then second marriage is denied.

RULE – 2: Second marriage is indicated if the sub-lord of the 2nd cusp is also a significator of either of the houses 7 or 11.

RULE – 3: ON ASSUMPTION 2ND SPOUSE IS CONSIDERED AS YOUNGER SIBLING OF FIRST SPOUSE
Second marriage is indicated if The sub-lord of the 9th cusp is a significator of either of the houses 2 or 9 or 11.

RULE 1: 74 PERCENT AGREE WITH THIS RULE
RULE 2: 79 PERCENT AGREE WITH THIS RULE
RULE 3: 93 PERCENT AGREE WITH THIS RULE. No rule by itself gives a 100 percent co-relationship

Other observations : For more than one marriage Prof. Krishnamurti has said that the only rule to be followed is to note the sub-lord of the 7th cusp. If the 7th sub-lord is either Mercury or any planet occupying a dual sign or deposited in the constellation of a planet in the dual sign, there will be more then one marriage.

If the sub-lord of the second cusp is connected with 7th house, second marriage; (if connected with 11th house, one will just have an illegal affair, as 7th house significator shows legal bondage whereas the 11th indicates attachment and friendship.)
2nd cusp sublord’s connection with 7th is crucial for a legal marriage, otherwise an affair or companion or living together only.

Recommendation: Since no rule alone gives 100% results, CHECK BY ALL 3 RULES, and then GIVE the prediction on more than one Marriage.

For second marriage to happen legally, first marriage has to break through divorce or death of 1st spouse, which can be known to happen if sublord of 7th house is connected to 2nd house or 6th house(one of its strong significators), as 2nd is 8th to 7th house and 6th is 12th to 7th house and both indicate death of spouse or seperation.

Friends and Relatives

The second house, dhan, means wealth. It reflects the degree of wealth or poverty that we were born into. It reveals our credit account, including valued objects, gifts, and precious gems. It also relates to our immediate social environment—the degree to which our family supports us. All of these external physical attributes support us in our evolutionary journey. However, if we are born into poverty, our lack of wealth provides us with the opportunity to develop the strength of character to continue on our evolutionary path. For example, a very poor young woman, who lacks the backing of her family, may use the strength of her personality to attract people willing to take a chance on financing the start of her own small business.

It includes all close relatives of the person without reference to any particular relationship. The immediate family likes grandfather, grandmother, mother, wife, children, brothers, sisters, etc.

Maraka House

The second house is also referred to as marak—or killer—as, at this point, we can become overly preoccupied with the acquisition of material possessions. Rather than seeing wealth as a means of providing security and support for our continued evolution, we can become anxious about accumulating it. Consequently, our fixation on acquiring wealth can stunt our evolutionary growth. Wealth, then, becomes an end instead of a means to an end.

Marak means killer in the sense that it carries the potential for ending the growing soul’s development at this point. For example, a man may marry for money, and slowly poison his wife in order to inherit her wealth. A little boy who is born into great wealth may grow up squandering his life on drugs that eventually kill him. Awareness of the dangers inherent in the second house allows us to develop wisdom in dealing with money matters.
