Aslesha Nakshatra is a group of 5 stars. It looks like a Chakra. It is the 9th Nakshatra out of the 27. It comes under the Cancer sign. Ashlesha nakshatra (Hydarae) Spread from 16:40’ to 30: degree Karka. Ruling planet is Mercury. Symbol-coiled up snake.

Ashlesha Nakshatra is near Sun and so, it can be seen in during early morning time. It remains with Sun, one house before or after Sun. Mahadasha of Mercury stays for 17 years. Mercury is the lord of this Nakshatra, hence, people of this Nakshatra have special influence of Mercury and Moon.

Mercury is the lord of Ashlesha and Mercury is the Karak of knowledge. It is a Vanik planet, hence, people born in this Nakshtra are successful businessman, clever advocate and good speaker. According to astrology, people born in this Nakshatra are honest and opportunist. They don’t trust other people easily. These people are stubborn and don’t listen to anyone. They have large influence of Snake lord. Hence, they are relatively more grumpy.

Aslesha is a rakshasa or demoniac star, sharp in nature and symbolized by the coiled snake. This suggests an anti-social, tactless character who can be penetrating in knowledge and austere in habit. All this is an attribute of Aslesha also. The cunningness of the serpent, its devious nature, the burning sensation of poison and pain along with all consequences that poison connotes are to be read in the constitution of Aslesha. The virtues and vices of the serpent are all in it. 


Chandra in Aslesha sicklied over with various faults in great intensity. Whoever would have his or her karmadhipati (Lord of the 10th house) or bhagyapati (Lord of the 9th house) in this star would run the risk of having all his or her principal acts in life handicapped, jeopardized or spoiled by many kinds of danger and obstruction. If the Lagna is in this star, the native would possibly be of wily disposition. Such people would like to work in secret and their words would carry the sting of poison.
