Violent Signs

Aries (Mesha) as also Scorpio (Vrischika) are said to be violent signs, since they know “no fears”.They undertake all enterprises with courage and confidence. They are best fitted to take risk.

Aries: This sign is ruled by fire and is cardinal, so it’s very easy for them to get riled up over even the smallest of things. Out of the entire zodiac, this sign is prone to the most frequent and violent outbursts. Because Aries are known as the “baby” of the zodiac, their sizzling anger is often described or thought of by peers or fellow Astrologers as temper tantrums. An Aries will either be more or less likely to anger based on their Mars (masculinity) and Moon (inner feelings) sign. If the Mars/Moon sign is in a feminine placement, such as Water or Earth signs, they may not be as quickly to explode as the next Aries with an air or fire placement.

Scorpio: Ah, Scorpio… The scorpion, although being a water sign, can be among the ranks of fire. It is ruled by Mars (masculinity, and aka the God of War) and Pluto (Power and Control). This is not a sign one would want to piss off, that’s for sure. This boiling hot water sign can destroy other people in arguments and can often be seen as quite intimidating. The only sign’s who’s anger can stand a match is Taurus (a really pissed off one) or Aries (also ruled by Mars). Scorpio do not forget wrong doings can will almost always resort to revenge, whether it is soon or in a few months. They are opportunists and usually do not follow the, “Forgive and Forget” motto. Although Scorpio do not often lose their cool, once they do they are a force not to be reckoned with.

Mute or Dumb Signs

All watery signs namely Cancer (Karka), Scorpio (Vrischika) and Pisces (Meena) are called mute signs or mute astrology sign.

This can be due to the fact that water is not a good medium for sound and hence mute. Watery sign on afflicted ascendant or second house, Mercury afflicted by Saturn placed in any of these signs or Mercury in ascendant or second house in these signs in affliction can cause speech problems, stammering or other speech impediments.

If Mercury being lord of 6 is in the 2nd house in a mute sign or lord of 6 is in the 2nd in a mute sign affected by Mars or Saturn, perceptible stammer, lisp or other impediment will be the result. Mercury anywhere in mute sign affected by Saturn, causes stammer.

If Mars adds his influence by bad aspect, then the native will talk very fast, lisp or pronounce his words badly. When Mercury happens to be in a mute will have a defect in speech. Saturn in the lagans in a mute sign causes an impediment in speech.

The 2nd house governs vocal organs. If a voice sign be found in the 2nd house in a horoscope, more especially if Venus or Mercury be therein free from affliction, then eloquence or some vocal gift may be predicted.

Astrology sign Jupiter indicates that one will offer advice, preach (May or practice) and will be a platform speaker. . Astrology sign Mars and Jupiter give assertion and make him an orator who can move the masses by his fiery speech. Mercury and Saturn show that The native will modify his speech According to the time circumstances and the crowd before him.

Barren Signs

Each astrology sign has its own importance and affect the nature of native in its own way. Aries (mesha), Gemini (Mithuna), Leo (Simha) and Virgo (Kanya) are known as barren or sterile signs. These are not fruitful.

Gemini, Leo and Virgo, traditionally associated with infertility. Aries, Sagittarius and Aquarius are considered semi-barren. The Moon in Sagittarius, and Aquarius is also said to signify a tendency toward barrenness.

Barren signs on the cusps of the 5th and 11th house (11th house being 5th to partner) and the lords of these not in Fruitful sign, Moon not in a fruitful signs, the lagna not a fruitful sign the lord of lagna not occupying a fruitful sign, and no fruitful planet in 5th or 11th houses, are indications of no children.

EXAMPLE :

Once a Question was put to an Astrologer by a Lady whether I am pregnant ?

ASCENDANT Sagittarius. Barren sign, ruler in 5th barren sign, MARS is main ruler 5th house in cadent house , barren sign , VENUS intercepted ruler 5th house pregnancy barren sign in 7th house, only MOON fertile sign but in cadent house..

JUPITER ruling her in 5th house of pregnancy without essential dignities,
offset 5th house …. JUPITER in 5th house would say she is, but without essential dignity here can do little….

MOON in Pisces (fertile sign) apply square to VENUS in7th barren sign

North node in 1st house , in the context of the question ,this is also good news for her (Because she does not to be )And north node disposited Jupiter in 5th house

Barren signs : Gemini., Leo , Virgo. Fertile signs: Water signs

My respond is firm: She is not pregnant I suggested to her go to the clinic to be checked
If she wants to be and let me know the result , the test came out that she was not.

Fruitful Signs

A classification of the signs based on their supposed productivity.

Cancer (Kataka), Scorpio (Vrischika) and Pisces (Meena) are said to be fruitful in nature, all watery signs being fruitful. They are said to be good for planting when occupied by the Moon, and are indicators of offspring when occupying the cusps of the fifth or eleventh houses.

Taurus (Rishaba), Libra (Thulam), Capricorn (Makaram) and Sagittarius (Dhanus) are said to be Semi-fertile or moderately fruitful signs

Barren or sterile are Aries, Gemini, Leo, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Aquarius. The barren signs are good for cultivation when occupied by the Moon, and are indicators of not having children when occupying the cusps of the fifth or eleventh houses.

Fruitful signs in the cusps of the 5th and 7th houses and their lords in fruitful signs, the indication is an early union. Barren signs in the cusps of the 5th and 1st houses indicate that the native is not likely to marry in time(provided other testimonies also point to the same view). Fruitful signs covering the 11th and 5th houses and the lords of 5 and 11 in fruitful signs promise progeny. Barren signs in the cusps of the 1st , 5th and 11th or the lords of these in barren signs lesser chances of children.

Movable, Fixed and Common Signs

Movable signs represent movement from one place to another, just as water in the river flows smoothly without going back to its source.

Aries, Libra, Capricorn, Cancer cause an individual to take action and they either jump right in and get the job done or simply fall flat on their face. They have the habit of creating something from nothing. Should there not already be a crisis to deal with they will create one just for the heck of it?

The three categories can be compared with the three Gunas of hinduism.Satvik, Rajsi and Tamsik. The movable signs represent the Rajsi activities. These zodiac signs represent movement from one place to another. These are similar to water in the river that keeps flowing from higher to lower. The movable signs are Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn. These depict being industrious, exuberant, ambitious and prevalent.

They express the nature of each of the four elements in the highest state of activity. Matter in the gaseous state, though chemically the same, is far more active and possesses different qualities than when in the liquid or solid state.

People, also, born under the movable signs, are active, energetic, and given to change; even as gas generates power and finds it easy to move in various directions little hindered by gravitation. They break the trails that others follow, and start the enterprises that others finish.

The natives of Aries pioneer in daring enterprises and adventure. Cancer people pioneer in home building and in foods. Those born under Libra pioneer in literature, art, and social affairs; while those belonging to the sign Capricorn are pioneers in business and industry. The signs of the movable quality produce people who are PIONEERS.

People born under movable sign rise in their life on their own and overcome all obstacles and hurdles which come on their way. They have a fighting spirit and rise in their life on their own. They are independent in nature and and dislike dependence on others. They are the last to accept subordination. Natives having dominance of movable signs in there horoscope experience love changes and reforms in life.

Aries: Ruled by Mars. Being a movable sign they are independent, courageous, enterprising and vehement when excited. It is the sign of action, proposals and new start. Aries charges right in, and those with muscular Aries emphasis in their horoscopes often want to be first. Their favourite time is today, "Right Now!". this very minute.

Cancer: Ruled by Moon. Being a movable sign they are inquisitive, nervous and restless. They are extremely frugal and equally industrious. It is of natural doing. It simply feels better that way.

Libra: Ruled by Venus. They are idealistic, quick-witted, vindictive, forceful and positive. Being a movable sign they exert tremendous influence over the masses. Aries is of action whereas Libra is the sign of reaction. Aries jumps in without thinking while Libra says "Hold your horses, let me think a moment, then maybe I can jump in with you".

Capricorn: Ruled by Saturn. They are generous, sympathetic, secretive and vindictive. They have a knack to adapt themselves to the circumstances. It is the sign of caution, premeditated planning and the positioning of Capricorn in your chart is the House of most efficiency, competent, well-organized, careful, suspicious, wary, determined, ruthless, motivated and ambitious.

Behind the veil, all these four signs are driven by one basic impulse; the urge to conquer! They may do it actively (like hunters, pursuing their quarry) or they may do it passively (like anglers, baiting a hook) but they all thrive on the thrill of victory and they seek this, day and night!

In answer then, to the question 'How do you seduce someone born under a cardinal sign?' the answer is, you don't! You smile encouragingly, you play a little hard to get... and you let them set out to get you.

There is though, another question to which the answer may not be so obvious. How do you keep the attentive interest of such a person? You challenge them to a battle, that's how. Not a physical fight of course (or at least not unless it is a gentle, friendly one, entered into by mutual prior agreement). But a mental struggle or an emotional wrestling match. Give them a run for their money. Let them know that you intend to challenge their authority. Wind them up - at least to a point. And don't feel that this is bad. It is what turns them on... at least in moderation.

Other good ways to keep a Cardinal lover happy involve changing your mind, several times a day, about what you are intending to do. And daring them to stick to a commitment. And forgiving them when they bite off more than they can chew... time and time again!

Being movable signs they are inclined to movable disorders or functional disorders i.e ailments affecting stomach, kidneys, bones flow of blood etc.

The ideal professions for these people are the one that involve speed and quick returns. They are fit for 100 metre sprint and not for marathon. So, they should make approach accordingly. They show their dynamism and act as authorities wherever they go.

When in the chart planets are more in movable sign, the person will be more inclined to trade, business politics or social service.

The biggest advantage and drawback of this sign is that there is always a dissatisfaction in its natives. Dissatisfaction further grows into the urge for getting more and the dissatisfaction increases.

Fixed Signs

They express the nature of each of the four elements in the lowest state of activity. Matter in the solid state is rigid, durable, and unyielding.

Moveable Signs like to run things and fixed signs like to own things wanting to be the boss and just let the moveable signs run the show for them. Fixed signs are obstinate and fixed in their positions whereas moveable signs do not like to be in one place only.

Fixed Signs are stubborn, fixed in position. They frequently take longer to start, but they never seem to stop. Cardinal Signs want to move. Fixed Signs want everything else to move around them while they sit still. The Fixed Signs show where in your life you will tend to stand fast under pressure.

TAURUS: They are stubborn, inflexible, firm in dealings, money-oriented and even sensual and are the most "fixed" of the fixed signs.

LEO: They are loud, showy, good-natured and playful and their motto is "Only the best will do".

SCORPIO: They are secretive, mysterious, weird and wonderful, neurotic and sexy. Scorpio loves to search out secrets from others simply trying to find out about the other person’s private life. The negative side of Scorpio is jealously, resentfulness and settling of scores and vengeance.

AQUARIUS: They are all of the following on a bad day - oddballs, strange, shocking, ultra-modern and uncharacteristic. However, this is also the sign of a mastermind and in the horoscope shows where we have the potential to rise above the common person. This may be sad but the wicked truth.

These are what astrologers call the Fixed signs. All four of them have the capacity to dig in their heels and wait for what they want... no matter how long it takes.

People born under the fixed signs are quite as unbending, firm, and resistant. Solids find difficulty in altering their form and location; and people belonging to the fixed signs are strongly attached to their customary environment, their customary manner of doing things, and their customary methods of thought.

They have great resistance to pressure of all kinds, strong endurance, plodding perseverance and the ability to give close attention to detail. They are not originators, and not enthusiastic developers; but when development has reached a high degree, they work out details that constitute improvements. The signs of the fixed quality produce people who are PERFECTERS.

In Astrology, Fixed Signs are associated with stabilization, determination, depth and persistence. They are powerful and willfull in all they do, often achieving much more than the other two qualities. On the other hand, they are also inflexible, rigid, stubborn, opinionated and single-minded. These traits are often paired with the need to be considered "right": they will ruthlessly fight on behalf of their beliefs, regardless of any contrary beliefs. Only during moments of importance or necessity would they consider changing an opinion.

Their memories are as long as their hearts are passionate. They are, between them, the zodiac's most unashamedly sexiest signs.

What? Even the Aquarians, who are allegedly just walking computers? Yup. Especially them. They may dwell in the realm of the mind but they think, a lot, about the pleasures of the body. And this is one area where thought alone most definitely does not satisfy them.

And as for the other three... well, I'm sorry but this space is too small to waste in a description of the obvious. Besides which, this is a website for all the family. One word is all we need bother with. And that word is 'appetite'. As in voracious, relentless and insatiable.

You disagree? Well maybe that's because you happen to know one who is currently on a fast. Sometimes, ravenous people get past the point of hunger. Once they do, they can abstain for ages. Especially if they happen to be born under one of the fixed, unyielding sign. Sooner or later though, the desire to get physical will resurface... with a vengeance. But in their time, not anyone else's.

And here endeth the first lesson about how to win the heart of one of these people. You give them time. Lots of it. Months if need be. Years if you really care. And you also give them that time if you want the relationship to last. You think of the long term. You make it abundantly clear that you mean business - and you prove it, by offering your trust. You don't use words - for words are cheap, as every Taurean, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarian knows.

The role of the Fixed signs is to maintain, uphold and defend positions, responsibilities, goals or desires in everyday situations. These signs are the least welcoming of change. Their role in the zodiac is to preserve tradition. Fixed signs are not easily distracted--they keep their hands on the steering wheel and their eyes on the road. They can be a bit stubborn or stuck in a rut, a down side of their ability to stay the course. Yet these signs are valued for their consistent, loyal, devoted, reliable and patient natures. Yes, they do hold strong opinions and at times they can be inflexible, but there are some areas in life that those traits are needed and even encouraged. How each sign expresses the Fixed Quality depends on their own characteristics:

You don't make dramatic gestures. Indeed, you keep drama to a minimum. For even if they appear to thrive on it, they secretly find it threatening. What they want is stability, plain and simple. For while some people consider continuity to be just a little boring, these deeply loyal people crave it like a drug. And rightly so, for they deserve it.

Common Signs

The signs of the Mutable Quality are Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces. Moveable signs press on forward while fixed signs build upon what the moveable first starts.

All four belong to an ancient astrological category known as 'the mutable signs.' All four, are different though they may be in many ways, share a love of challenge... and change. It has to be difficult or they don't want to do it. It must be different or they'd really rather not bother. That goes for all aspects of life... but especially for the way they behave in relationships.

They express the nature of each of the four elements in a medium state of activity. Matter in the liquid state, though possessing the same chemical elements as when gaseous or solid, is more subject to gravitation and less aggressive in its chemical action than when gaseous; but more active and yielding, and less given to permanence than when in the solid state.

Moveable are adjustable, malleable, and usually willing to compromise situations and are those types not usually inclined to step on other people’s toes, whereas a fixed Sign person may say,

“Out of my way, I’ve got to get this done” or “I think this is right, your wrong, and that is that!”. A moveable sign may say “Let’s talk things through, surely we can come to some arrangement”.

Moveable will go along with a thing as long as it is interesting and fascinating but, overall, the moveable signs show where in your life one is likely to talk things through or even make a compromise.

GEMINI: They are good communicators, talkers, writers, and liars, persons who can do several things all at one go. Of course, Gemini is the only sign that has the aptitude do many things at the same time and get away with it.

VIRGO: They make great workers and fantastic critics and are good with detail, effort, work, criticism, analysis, etc.

SAGITTARIUS: They are philosophers, full of beans, happy, cheery, optimistic, individuals and whatever they think, they say.

PISCES: They are dreamers, imaginative persons like Einstein, illusionists, magicians; ingenious and inventive just like Graham Alexandra Bell, inventor of the telephone.

The mutable signs are a happy medium between the excessive activity of the movable signs and the stubborn resistance of the fixed signs. Liquid cannot force its way through an aperture as easily as can gas, but once a channel has been established it quickly follows the line of least resistance. People born under the mutable signs seldom break trails, but follow on the heels of the pioneers. As liquid conforms to the object with which it is in contact, so mutable people are the most adaptable of all. The signs of the mutable quality produce people who seldom originate an enterprise. They are the DEVELOPERS.

Mutables will stay with something as long as it is interesting. As soon as it stops being interesting, they are out of there. If something has to be finished soon and they find it very interesting, they won’t stop. They will find some excuse to keep it going. Please remember that everyone has every sign somewhere in their horoscope. The Mutable Signs show where in your life you are likely to adapt, talk things over, and compromise.

They are looking for tricks that are hard to learn. They hate to feel that they know all there is to know about anything or anyone. And, they hate arguments. Yes, even the Geminis. Debates, they love. Heated discussions too. But conflict? No thank you. For all four of these signs, life is just too short to be wasted in a test of strength. It's far more fun to co-operate. Which also explains why mutable signs find it hard to be alone for long.

They don't necessarily have to be in partnership. Indeed, most find the notion of conventional marriage rather intimidating. To make it attractive, it needs to involve someone who doesn't make them feel too needed or hemmed in.

Thus, if you want a mutable person to fall for you, you should never let them know that you have fallen for them. And, if you want to stay with a Gemini, a Virgo, a Sagittarian or a Piscean for life... you should focus on your own love of life, not of them. Put fun first. Be light, be nimble and above all, be adaptable.

That applies especially in the department that some might coyly call 'horizontal and nocturnal'. Don't ever let it be just either of these two things. Be adventurous and spontaneous (but still, somewhat sensitive) in your choice of time and place. And don't ever let your love life fall into a routine. And remember, the way to awaken their heart (plus most other parts of their anatomy) is through their sense of humour.

In ascendants

If movable signs are present in the ascendant, the person’s work is related to travelling like tourism, marketing etc. The person can be connected to a transport service and travel a lot. These people have to travel a lot irrespective of the field they are working in. They get success in travelling related jobs or business.

If fixed signs are present in the ascendant, the person is stable and works at one place. He does not need to be solitary and works with full dedication. He is stable in whatever work he does and likes taking up steady projects.

When Common or Dual signs are present in the ascendant, the person earns his living through both movable and fixed modes. The persons heart is not stable. Sometimes, he likes travelling and sometimes he just wants to be steady and stable.

Aspects

Every sign in a rasi aspects other signs. Movable signs aspects the fixed signs, Fixed signs aspect the Movable signs and Dual signs aspects the dual signs. Movable signs does not aspect another movable signs and in the same way the fixed signs do not aspect another fixed sign.

Movable signs aspects the sign falling opposite to them and also those falling in both sides of them. Movable signs have their aspects on the signs that happen to fall in 5th,8th and 11th from them and the fixed ones on those that are in 3,6,9th from them and the dual signs 4,7,10 from them.

Fiery, Earthy, Airy and Watery Signs

This is one of the most important classifications of astrological sign for predictive purpose. It helps in describing the temperament and basic personality of each sign of the zodiac by classifying them into one of the four ancient and traditional elements, fire, earth, air, and water. Each of the four elements has three signs assigned to it.

Fire signs (The Inspirational and Physically active Group) Aries, Leo and Sagittarius
Earth signs (The Practical and Productive Group) Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn
Air signs (The Mental and Socially Oriented Group) Gemini, Libra and Aquarius
Water signs (The Emotional and Family Oriented Group) Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces

Fiery

The Element of Fire is associated with the Signs Aries, Leo and Sagittarius, and it also symbolizes the natural first, fifth and ninth houses in astrology.

Fire tends to go upwards, and can raise things into the clouds and beyond. The sun and the stars are fire - high in the sky! Fire cannot truly be confined, although it can be controlled. Even so, it eventually escapes into the sky.

Fire is associated with inspiration, life force, action, enthusiasm, passion, vitality, courage, charisma, spontaneity, strength, possibility, will, faith and high spirits, high ideals.

Fire ideas can be very distant from the ideas of this Earth. While fire consumes, it also creates new life (forest fires remove the old and enable the new - some plants even wait for the fire to release their seeds!). Of all the elements, fire captures our attention the most.

Archetypal fire goes high above the earth, is consuming, clinging and captivating and creates the new and removes the old.

Fire is raw energy. Fire appears as if from nowhere, it grabs everyone's attention, and forces its way through almost everything, consuming the air, evaporating the water and chars the earth. Even the rocks are scorched or even melted (larva).

Fire signs are known to be intuitive, and to rely on gut-level instincts. Going on faith in their inner guidance gets them far, but they have a tendency to skip crucial steps, or to be unaware of the emotional impact of their actions.

The fiery signs represent the vital spirit and activity. These signs tend to be confident, action oriented, outgoing, forceful, active, strong, adventurous, enthusiastic, expansive and optimistic. Negatively they tend to be impatient, willful, reactive, blunt, careless and foolhardy.

Any planet or house that is placed in these signs will acquire these qualities. The more planets one have in the fire signs the more of these qualities will be pronounced.

Fire is inherently unstable, and its natural tendency is to rise. Its energy rushes outward, and fire-sign people are outgoing. They need to self-mythologize, seeing their lives as a grand adventure. The fire signs can be brash, impulsive, blunt, impatient, boisterous and flagrant. They’re daring risk-takers, but with a potential for haste and recklessness. “On fire” and “fired up” describe Aries, Leo and Sagittarius when they’re in their element. Overdoing fire can cause you to burn yourself out.

Fiery people have high spirits, great self-confidence, enthusiasm, and direct honesty and openness. They project a radiant, vitalising energy that glows warmly. They need a good deal of freedom to express themselves so they can insist on their own point of view. They are consumed - even entranced - by whatever they do. They are motivated by excitement, insight and intuition. That is, they get an idea which captivates them. They do not consider rational or logical thinking or practical feasibility. The idea comes to them fully formed and full of power. While the idea may grow over a period of time, it does not grow logically but intuitively. Sometimes fiery people do not know why they must do what they must do!

Not surprisingly, fire people are assertive, individualistic, active and self-expressive. Fire sign energies can stimulate others, but they can also overpower and exhaust them.

Fiery people are dramatic, direct, forceful, demonstrative and exuberant. They have an inner spark, and they radiate with joie de vivre. They’re self-igniting, thus self-motivated. They dislike weakness and worries. Good natured and fun-loving, they may have many friends.

They are generous with their time, energy, and resources. They value having a good time above material possessions. They are generous but egoistic.

Fiery people may believe so strongly in their own powers and abilities that they fail to notice the powers and abilities of others. This may mean that they do not give others the credit they deserve, or it may be that they underestimate their opponents. They believe that "If you want a job done well, then do it yourself".

However, they belong to a group that is the most daring and capable inspiring natural leaders. They lead from the front. In war or business, they are out in the front leading the way. They are independent and individualistic leaders, rarely consulting others before they act. In fact, they may not even think things through to themselves, because their mode of thought is intuitive. They are always "on stage" and need to be recognized and admired for their attainment and accomplishments. They consider being appreciated more important than being rich. Nothing hurts them more than being ignored. The fire sign sense of honesty is straightforward and often child-like. They believe everyone is like themselves an open book. This may lead them to be gullible and nave, or to others exploiting their openness.

Those with planets in fire signs have a simmering at-the-ready stance, as they hunt for things that light them up. They're prone to sudden illuminating flashes of insight and bursts of enthusiasm. Like fire itself, they can flare up when inspired, making them seem very passionate about life. They like to live large, and often feel frustrated by mundane chores and duties.

If someone has little or no fire in their chart, they may have low energy and lack passion and confidence. They probably have some fear of taking action and may not really trust life. These types could benefit from a fiery person lighting a fire under them. Vigorous exercise is one antidote to low fire, since it heats you up, and sunshine has the power to revive flagging spirits.

Earthy

The Element of Earth is associated with the Signs Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn, and it also symbolizes the natural second, sixth and tenth houses in astrology.

The earth element represents matter. Everything in the universe is made of matter. You can touch what exists and often see or hear it. Earth is real and objective because it is perceivable by the five senses. Everything that exists in the universe is either earth or water. For anything to manifest, it must contain the elements earth or water.

Of all the elements, the earth element is the most easy to confine and capture, to hold in the hand. It is rigid, fixed and stable. Anything that is attainable is "down to earth" and not "airy fairy", or "high in the sky". Archetypal earth is real, heavy, and the basis of all achievement. It is the foundation of all that is. Like the real earth, it is fixed, stable, organised and predictable. It is limited and disciplined.

It is the earth that can be possessed and owned. It provides a solid basis for our existence (dependable and stable), yet it can rise only so far. And the higher it rises (a bolder on a mountain), the farther it has to fall, making it cautious. Unlike the other elements, it cannot easily rise and almost never disappears.

The earthy signs represent sense of responsibility and reliability. These signs tend to be organized, practical, realistic, ambitious, hardworking, methodical, disciplined, analytical, stable and steady. Negatively they tend to be stubborn, lazy, reserved, critical, fussy, pessimistic and snobbish. Any planet or house that is placed in these signs will acquire these qualities. The more planets one have in the earth signs the more of these qualities will be pronounced.

It's common to hear someone described as "earthy." Such a person blends in with their natural habitat. They're sensual, meaning they engage with life through the five senses. It takes time to sense the dense physical world, and earth signs can operate at a slower, more thorough pace than the other elements.

Earth is interested in what is tangible, concrete, useful and sensible. People with lots of earth in their charts are dependable—as in salt of the earth, rock solid— and practical—as in down to earth, grounded. They’re hands-on, preferring to deal with substance and matter and form. You can rely on earthy types, because of their firm roots.

Earth signs are patient, self-disciplined and industrious. They stabilize by imposing order on their world. A Taurus, Virgo or Capricorn is here to actualize and manifest. Sensory experience takes precedence, gifting them with a notable sensuality. No other element is as in touch with the body. Earth signs operate in the material world, so they can be overly materialistic, and their rooted ness may lead them to be overly controlled, conservative and cautious—a stick in the mud.

Unlike the other elements, earth stands still. But it’s capable of building upon itself as well, and a lack of earth can spell a lack of resourcefulness and structure, an inability to dwell in the here and now. Quick fixes: A walk in nature will get you to feel the ground beneath your feet, while a massage reconnects you with your body.

They're oriented toward what's real, and often this makes them very productive, able to create tangible results. But if there are no balancing elements, earth's extremes could lead to being a work-a-holic, hoarding of possessions, pettiness, getting stuck in the mundane, stubbornness, etc.

Earthy people are, therefore, cautious, premeditative, conventional and dependable. They live by a practical, common-sense code and seek physical wellbeing rather than spiritual enlightenment, or to rise high. The expression "down to earth" sums them up. They are responsible, methodical, and concerned with detail.

Children of the earth element are therefore well suited to life on this planet. They are realistic, builders and hard workers. They are pragmatic, materialistic and reductionist - they reduce everything to what is practical, useful and observable. They particularly value skills and abilities. Earth types are successful business people in the sense that they can stably maintain things.

While the fiery type is an innovator, the earth type is cautious and practical, being more interested in established business activities than new innovative ones. Imagination to an earth type is of realistic representations of the five senses (or a few of them). They think about what is, rather than what might be. In a way, they lack imagination. They can be too fixed to rules, regulations and procedures.

Airy

The Element of Air is associated with the Signs Gemini, Libra and Aquarius, and it also symbolizes the natural third, seventh and eleventh houses in astrology.

While air is light, it pervades everything on earth. For a long way into the sky and even in deep caves there is air. Air rises, but not as much as fire. Like fire, air is difficult to control or to capture. It is (nearly) always free. Yet it links everything to everything else.

Air is associated with words and language. Language and words are essentially verbal, and speech requires air. It has a serial quality. You can blow air from one position to another. For example, you can direct the breath to blow away some dust - the air moves from the mouth to the position of the dust.

Language requires that words are uttered in a particular sequence, and the basis of logic is within language. (You cannot prove logic!) For most of human history, the air was the motive force of transport (sailing ships) and a major source of power (windmills).

The airy signs represent mental and social experiences. These signs tend to be communicative, quick-witted, adaptable, versatile, flexible, relationship oriented, cooperative, sociable, balanced, tolerant and original. Negatively they tend to be babbling, nervous, superficial, indecisive, aloof and eccentric. Any planet or house that is placed in these signs will acquire these qualities. The more planets one have in the air signs the more of these qualities will be pronounced.

Those with planets in air signs use their minds to make sense of their lives. With Air, there's more space between the life lived and the observing mind. This can lead air signs to appear detached, aloof, remote, cool. Sometimes they'll try to talk their way through feelings or analyze a situation instead of encountering its full emotional weight.

The gift of Air is flexibility, and their ability to experience life through many prisms. They're often excellent communicators, storytellers, interpreters and journalists. They link people together socially, and often have a curiosity that keeps them out and about.

Archetypal air is associated with language, logic, communication and transport. It loves freedom, and if captured, it will escape at the first opportunity. (If you capture it in a balloon, it will seep out or explode out whenever it can). Air is also associated with the interrelationships (links) between people and things.

So one keyword is "linking":
logic links ideas,
language links words,
transport links places, and
words link to ideas.

In order to link ideas together, we need to use abstraction or generalisation to some degree. So like fire, air can be abstract, although because it is closer to the earth, it is less "up in the sky" than fire (although it is "up in the air", and abstract sometimes) Although air is everywhere, it remains air, although it does unite with objects and things in the world, but not as fast as fire. So the archetypal air can be objective and a bit impersonal. It is social because it is everywhere, but the associations are not as deep as those of water, or as lasting as those of earth.

Air people are concerned with thought, ideas and intellect. They are detached and objective. They can be versatile and agile in communications. But they might not accomplish their promises or goals unless they are grounded in earth. They are the theory people in the "theory versus practice" debate.

Nonetheless, while the air people are less practical than those of the earth, they are more practical and objective than the other two signs. They can become dreamers, thinking and planning, but not applying. Air people are reflective and think things through logically before they implement their ideas. They can be procrastinators, but they rarely make mistakes through lack of thought. They tend not to be emotional, but they are fair minded and consider other's viewpoints. They are group rather than person oriented. They love humanity, but are not that close to individuals. They have varied interests and could become perpetual students.

Air is concerned with thinking, relating, communication, concepts and comprehension. Sociability, abstract reasoning, curiosity, logic, objectivity and intellectual perspective are all strengths. With so much emphasis on the mental and verbal, one might question why relationships are associated with this element. Air signs thrive on exchange. Just as they need to associate one thing with another in their heads, they need personal interaction.

Humans forge connections through language; to relate means to tell. Air itself moves horizontally, and airy people relay information and give and take ideas. Their minds are lively, which can sometimes overload their nervous systems. If they talk too much, we say they’re full of hot air. When they live in their heads, they’re labeled airheads. And if they’re all theory with no practicality, the expressions fly-by-night and flighty can apply. Their rational broad-mindedness gives air-sign people a detached, dispassionate quality, yet someone with little or no air in their chart will have a harder time adapting to new ideas and unfamiliar people. If you’re overdoing your air, meditation helps to still the mind. If this is your low or missing element, fresh air awakens the mind, restoring alertness.

Watery

The Element of Water is associated with the Signs Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces, and it also symbolizes the natural fourth, eighth and twelfth houses in astrology.

Water rises into the air and falls as rain, nurturing the land. The earth absorbs it to become fertile. We can go for weeks without food, but only days without water. Living things need water. With it they grow and mature. Without it they die.

Normally water is cold, that is, it absorbs energy. It takes in the energy of others. Water is more sensitive than the other elements in that it can appear in the three forms of matter: solid like the earth; liquid - its normal state - and as vapour - like air.

Water, like earth, is heavy, and falls to the earth. It is less easily constrained than earth, but more easily than fire or air. Yet water can rise up into the air (although it often falls again as rain.) Unlike fire and air, it forms a flat surface, therefore, like earth, it has some form. It is therefore less limited than the earth, but more limited than fire and air.

While fire cannot be contained, it disappears if you totally enclose it, and air expands to fill any container, water is more limited and keeps it volume, and has a level. While fire cannot destroy the earth, water can. It is the universal solvent that has the potential to make everyone one, without destroying that which it unites.

Water can rise high with the help of air, but generally doesn't move upwards. Water is extremely powerful, and will always find its own level. If artificially constrained at a high level, it will eventually break free, but then it will fall. Water is impressionable and reflective. It can go deep. Archetypal water refers to the feelings and the emotions. It refers to the unconscious mind.

The watery signs represent feelings, imaginative and creative experiences. These signs tend to be sensitive, sympathetic, domestic, compassionate, benevolent, intuitive, artistic and receptive. Negatively they tend to be moody, clinging, secretive, escapist, impractical, unrealistic and brooding. Any planet or house that is placed in these signs will acquire these qualities. The more planets one have in the water signs the more of these qualities will be pronounced.

Water signs are attuned to waves of emotion, and often seem to have a built-in sonar for reading a mood. This gives them a special sensitivity in relationships, knowing when to show warmth and when to hold back. At their best, they are a healing force that brings people together -- at their worst, they are psychic vampires, able to manipulate and drain the life force of those closest to them.

Water signs are tuned into the many shades of meaning in relationships, and at times can absorb "vibes" from others. They have to work harder than other elements to maintain their personal boundaries.

Water people are very sensitive to their own feelings and those of others. They perceive life through their emotions. They are concerned with what feels right, with their hunches or impressions, rather than with what is practical or rational. They use the emotions, not the intellect, to understand and to value. Water can raise people to the heights of bliss, but can bring them down to the depths of despair.

They’re aware of how they feel, how you feel and what the tone in the atmosphere is. Watery types are known for their depth, given that water seeks the deepest level. They have considerable access to the subconscious, so they’re attuned to hidden undercurrents.

By nature, water is nonlinear and penetrating, and these signs are subjective and empathic. Waves of feeling can make one moody, but letting feelings wash over you can be healing and purifying. Like water, feelings may flow or freeze. Emotionality causes someone to get misty or feel like they’re in a fog. When overwhelmed by feeling, people say they’re drowning or they’re in too deep.

Water signs are vulnerable, considering their susceptibility to the environment, and this makes them rather private and self-protective. They can become ultra sensitive and overly impressionable, tending towards wallowing and compulsion. But too little water makes it hard to trust one’s gut and process—or even sanction—emotions, creating emptiness, callousness and fear of pain. For people who lack the element in their charts, being in or near water seems to promote connection with sentiment and soul.

Water people need close emotional relationships, and rarely have superficial affairs. They can be volatile. They are romantic, sentimental and affectionate. They can be very nurturing and very possessive with their family and spouse. They have fixed opinions. They communicate in non-verbal ways; emotionally, psychically, or through forms as art, dance, music, poetry and photography. Their beliefs are based on feelings rather than on reason, passion or practicality. .

Northern and Southern, Equinoctial, Tropical Signs

Signs of the Zodiac. The zodiac is divided into twelve equal parts, proceeding from west to east; each part is thirty degrees and is distinguished by a sign. Beginning with "Aries," we have first six northern and then six southern signs - i.e. six on the north side and six on the south side of the equator; beginning with "Capricornus," we have six ascending and then six descending signs - i.e. six which ascend higher and higher towards the north and six which descend lower and lower towards the south.

Northern and Southern signs

The first six signs of the Zodiac Aries (the ram), Taurus (the bull), Gemini (the twins), spring signs; Cancer (the crab), Leo (the lion), Virgo (the virgin), summer signs are called Northern signs, as they are to the north of the celestial equator.

The remaining six signs Libra (the balance), Scorpio (the scorpion), Sagitta'rius (the archer), autumn signs; Capricornus (the goat), Aqua'rius (the water-bearer) and Pisces (the fishes), winter signs. (Greek, zo-on, living creatures.) are to the south of the celestial Equator (in the southern hemisphere) and termed as southern signs.

Equinoctial Signs

Equinoctial means equal day and night. This phenomenon occurs twice every year around 21st March and 23rd September, when the Sun is directly over the equator. Aries (Mesha) and Libra (Tula) are the two equinoctial signs. Aries (Mesha) is the vernal equinoctial sign and Libra (Tula) is the autumnal equinoctial sign.

Tropical Signs

Cancer (Karka) and Capricorn (Makara) are the two tropical signs. They are sometimes called the summer solstice sign and winter solstice sign respectively. The day time is longest when Sun is at the initial point of Cancer when the Sun is directly overhead at Tropic of Cancer at and the night time is longest when the Sun is at the beginning of Capricorn when the Sun is directly overhead at Tropic of Capricorn for northern hemisphere. The opposite is true for the southern hemisphere.

Positive and Negative Signs

In astrology, all the twelve sign signifies their own importance and impact on the horoscopes of different people in different ways. In astrology there are two groups: positive and negative. These two groups also include six individual signs that are called zodiac signs.

In this extend, The alternative sign from Aries (Mesha) onwards are known as positive and negative sign.

The positive signs associated with the zodiac are Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, and Aquarius.[1] The negative signs associated with the zodiac are Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces.

These astrology signs are sometimes referred to as masculine(or day signs) and feminine (or night signs) respectively, thus the odd astrology signs namely, Aries (Mesha), Gemini (Mithuna), Leo (Simba), Libra (Tula), Sagittarius (Dhanu) and Aqurius (Kumba) are positive (or Masculine);

The even signs viz., Taurus (Vrischika), Cancer (Kataka), Virgo ( Kanya), Scorpio (Vrischika), Capricorn (Makara) and Pisces (Meena) are negative (or Female) sign. The positive astrology sign signifies an assertive, bold, expressive, active and nature. they give determination , will power and force.

The twelve signs are divided into two groups based upon one's exact time and place of birth. The negative and positive signs alternate, starting with Aries as positive and Taurus as negative and continuing this pattern through the list of zodiac signs.[2]The signs negative and positive are referred to as a negative-sunsign or a positive-sunsign.

For example, an astrologer may refer to positive signs as masculine and negative signs as feminine.[3] Each sign is divided into two main types: active and passive. As a general rule, the active type will be called masculine and the passive type will be called feminine.[4]

Note that there is no value judgment attached to the terms negative or positive. They may be likened to polarities in a magnet: one side is positive and one side is negative. Neither side is "good" nor "bad"—they are merely different.

The Zodiac is first divided into two halves using the Principle of Polarity as explained in Taoism under the names of yang and yin in Taoist scripture “The secrets of the golden flower”.

This gives us what we call as Positive and Negative signs or Masculine and Feminine signs. Astrologically the positive signs represent the manifest, The Sun being the principal ruler. The negative signs represent the un-manifest, The Moon being the principle ruler.

On the other hand the negative sign show a passive, receptive, defensive and a somewhat conciliatory disposition. The positive astrology signs shows the tendency to be more self-expressive and less passive in their reactions and for the negative astrology sign to be more self-repressive and less outgoing and spontaneous.

As an Ascendant ,a positive astrology sign indicates that the native is more generally fortunate in his undertaking than feminine on account of passive qualities. Astrology sign shows, If the lagna falls in a male sign and other testimonies also support, then even a lady born in a modest family will have masculine appearance and qualities.

But if the lagna falls in a male sign occupied by feminine planets or if the lord of lagna occupies a female sign, he may be male with feminine qualities, appearance and character etc.

If any astrology sign on the cusp of the 5thhouse falls in a masculine sign, and if its lord is masculine planet and is in a masculine sign, etc.most of the offsprings will be boys, and if it happens in feminine, then most of the offsprings will be girls. This is a general rule.

General readings on astrology sign shows that positive signs on the cusp of asendent give vitality and boldness on the other hand negative astrology sign are not so vigorous unless a strong masculine planet is very near to the cusp of the Ascendant.

Positive Signs – Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, Aquarius

The principle of positivism is that which outgoing, active and manifest, love for change, performance, look for achievement in the future, self-assertion, determination, power of will and force, self-opinionism.

Positive sign on Ascendant gives vitality, initiative, extrovertism, an irresistible attraction, gay abundance.

In terms of psychology we may say the positive signs represent the conscious.

Negative Signs – Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, Pisces

The principle of negativity is that negativity is indrawn, passive and unmanifest, receptive, defensive. Sorrow in some form seems part of the heritage of the negative signs.

Negative signs appearing on the ascendant make the persons to accept the things as they are but have generally richer inner life. They look to the past than the future, feel disappointed, privacy of action is congenial to this type.

In terms of psychology we may say negative signs represent the unconscious. The negative type requires stimulation.

Twelfth House

The twelfth house is a cadent house. Its natural sign ruler is Pisces and its natural planetary ruler is Neptune.

That which is hidden or below the surface, karma, self-undoing, soul growth, hidden strengths and hidden weaknesses, dreams, private affairs, lost items, hospitals and prisons, spiritual studies.

This house is typically considered to be negative and dark, the psychic garbage pail of the zodiac. In Medieval times, it was known as the house of troubles and indicated possibilities of imprisonment, illness, secret enemies, poverty, and dire misfortune. While such possibilities exist with this house, its core meaning is deeper.

Twelfth house signifies expenditure, monetary loss, debt, punishment pronounced by lawful court, enjoyment and suffering, information about enemy, bedroom enjoyment, expenditure for just cause, salvation etc.

The Tradition classifies houses because, on the one hand, their influence on an individual is not equally important, and on the other hand, they have different specificities in terms of characterology. There are three classifications. The first one deals with accentuation, and the other two, with quadrants and hemisphere emphasis.

It corresponds to the native's inner self, ordeals underwent his whole life through, hidden enemies, and serious illnesses. It is related to places of confinement such as hospitals, prisons, convents, etc., and also includes solitude and major inner crises.

The Twelfth house represents the way we explore and deal with our inner depths in solitude and silence, marking a difference between spiritual growth and escapism. It is through this house that we transcend through the definitions of reality that confine us, creating a desire to move through and beyond what may be causing pain within our lives. Planets in the Twelfth house have a subtle, rather than a strong, influence, with the house working on a subconscious level of our mind.

The Twelfth house represents how we build our own inner strength to overcome limitations, fears and sorrows – allowing for individuals to adapt to the collective. Within this house we are able to come to terms with self-undoing by working out why we are not completely free, where we stand in our own way and who we desire to become.

Karma, betrayal, sacrifice, secrets and limitations play a strong role in the Twelfth house. It reflects our subconscious and emotionally based feelings of responsibility, describing the extent we feel guilt for problems within the larger world. The house is most commonly associated with psychic sensitivity, spirituality, hidden understandings and awareness, omens, the need for time alone, the subconscious, karma and traits existent but unknown to one's self.

The twelfth house represents the personal unconscious, the parts of ourselves that we've disowned — all that is hidden from our conscious perception. Here lie the dregs of early defeats and disillusionments, which ultimately were repressed and not integrated into the rest of our personality. Here, too, are aspects of ourselves that for one reason or another we don't want to express openly to others. These hidden parts of ourselves often come out later in life, surfacing as fears, weaknesses, or phobias that work against us.

The twelfth house in the horoscope represents all the energies that are beyond human control, beyond our normal understanding. With a twelfth house there is not much you can do, but rather learn to BE, and accept. It is not an easy house in this society that values tangibility so much, and attempts to shut out the dreamers, the people who know that they cannot control themselves or their life. It is known in traditional astrology as the house of hidden enemies, of incarceration, and loneliness. It doesn’t have to be so, but someone with a strong 12th house never really feels like they belong here to this saturnine society.

Why is this house so feared? 12th house people have a wish for some security from the busy everyday world that seem so alien to them. In this house the eradication of the ego is not just words, it is an actual happening that is experienced with its accompanying fears, need for time alone, open boundaries that cause the person to look for shelters.

The boundaries between real and not real are not so easily defined in this house, a huge longing for simplicity, for the easiness of being without the need to prove yourself resides here, and a connection to all energies and forces be they good or bad.

The twelfth house always suggests life beyond the norm. It could be the outsider living in a small apartment in a crowded city, the homeless, the one who chooses to live in a tent, and on the other scale, someone who is very rich, very famous, and therefore needs to live secluded and protected.

The 12th house is the house of secrets only because it is hard to explain to the rational mind, what it is meant by feelings, by intuitions, there is no proof in the 12th house, chaos rules, and we feel out of control of our minds, our behavior, our obsessions, our addictions. The only way to cure any of the above is by faith.

In reincarnation terms, this is the house is always connected to the mass karma of humanity. The longing for the Oneness. This is the house of surrender, and allowing the energies to clear the Ego from residue, in order for spirit to shine in. I personally believe that in future as was in past societies, this house will get back to its position of prominence, instead of the fear and misunderstandings it receives now.

Planets in the 12th house in the horoscope will bring you situations where you feel out of control, where you know that there is something more, but cannot explain it. You will attempt to hide, evade, and feel different. You will either need help with expressing these planets constructively, or shut them out as much as you can. Therapy will not work here. Meditations, healthy living and faith are the only way to go.

If you have a 12th house planet/s, please remember that there is a limit to what other people can take: they see you keep repeating the same mistakes, and feel sorry for yourself again and again. At some point they are fed up and walk away.

Sometimes, these repressed aspects find expression in our most intimate relationships. The daughter of an alcoholic parent, for instance, may find herself confronting her childhood experiences in her relationship with an alcoholic spouse.

On a higher level, the twelfth house can embody spiritual, psychic, and mystical experiences that deepen our connection with the divine.

A benefic planet occupying the 12th place makes the native live happily, he earns name and fame, he spends money for just cause. Ketu in the 12th is the cause of salvation. Sani, Ravi and Mangal being in the 11th make the native extravagant. He seldom enjoys material happiness, may not get family peace, and there is chance of his suffering from various ailments including disease in anus and eye.

Eleventh House

We live in the world of success worshippers. In Kalyuga the predominant tendency of all ambitious people is to succeed and succeed ONLY. The end is important for them, whatever may be the means adopted to achieve success.

The importance of 11th House cannot be over emphasised in Kalyug where the only barometer of success is money! 11th House is the house of gains, of recognition and awards.

The eleventh house is an often-misunderstood house. It is associated with gain, i.e. gain of objectives and articles. At the same time it is associated with punishment, as it is the sixth from the sixth i.e. the manifestation of punishment. These two extremes require explanation.

The seventh house shows ones desires, and the eleventh is the fifth therefrom indicating the future of such desires, namely the fulfillment or denial of the desires. Such a fulfillment is considered as a gain to the native, and the reason the eleventh house is called the labha bhava.

The people / grahas in the eleventh house indicate those whom you attempt to fulfill your desires with and those who will support ones dreams about the future, thus becoming ones friends. Some hopes /desires are inauspicious and could cause harm to others whilst attempting to reap the fruits of ones desires. To account for our misdeeds the eleventh house also acts as the natural house of obstruction or badhaka.

Finally, this is the magical house of hopes and wishes, where higher aspirations and dreams come true. While that might sound over-blown, just you wait and see when you have an important aspect occur in this house -- you may be pleasantly surprised!

11th house Stands for Gains (of money, knowledge), elder brother or sister, wealth, elevation of husband, longevity of mother, gain from father- in-law, friends , hopes , wishes, aspirations, success in undertakings, elections, litigation, speculation, discharge from hospital, ears, trade, society, community, recovery from illness, freedom from misery, ambitions, wishes, desires & their fulfillment, marriage, disease.

The areas governed by the eleventh house are foreign collaborations and higher studies, election, speculation, litigation, writing, health and more. If one is involved in litigation when he is running the conjoined periods of the planets, the native may expect a favorable outcome. He may then come out successfully usually with the help of compromise even if his case is weak. This is because the eleventh house stands for gain and lasting friendship. The eleventh house is commonly referred to as the labhasthana or the house of gains.

The houses 9 to 12 are known as Dharma (9), Artha (10), Kama (11) and Moksha (12) house respectively. Kama here does not indicate mere passion; it also stands for desire. Siddhi is indicated by fulfillment. The eleventh house resolves all questions that are related to hopes, wishes, aspirations and their attainment. The eleventh house governs success in diverse undertakings whether it is related to profession or business dealings.

Eleventh house signifies gain in every way, all kinds of receipts, acquisition of gold and wealth, paternal prosperity, eldest brother or sister, paternal uncle, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, brother-in-law (sister-in-law too), knee, shank, ear, skill in practical arts etc.

Difference between aya (11th) and dhana (2nd) bhavas is, from the 11th house we know whether income is easy or not, how of in what manner—honest or dishonest the native shall earn money.

Dhana bhava indicates amount of income, accumulation of wealth; source of income can be determined from dhana and Aya bhavas. Both the bhavas are complementary to each other. If the dhana bhava or its lord is afflicted due to aspect or conjunction of malefic planets gain of money will not be easy, there must be some sort of difficulties in earning, so also the case with the 11th bhava. Thorough judgment of Aya bhava is to be made according to instructions noted in case of other bhavas.

At the present time material values or to put it more directly, money values, the profit-and-loss nexus rules out nearly every other value. This in itself is the result of planetary evolution; but into cosmic scheme, we do not pretend to enter. The malefics so called have the power of bestowing on the native much greater wealth and importance to a very much greater extent than the so called benefic planets.

The latter might have been more powerful in their own time, the Golden Age; but now the Ages of lead and evil ones are more powerful. Not that benefics utterly fail to redeem their promises in terms of money and influences, but the native gets only the irreducible minimum from them and hardly more. The malefics on the other hand, if they are well-placed, that is, in giving mood, usually give a lot more than the benefics do in money and influence.

Friendships and all your platonic relationships fall in this house, as do memberships in any kind of group or club. Even attendance at a trade show or a theme park -- presence in any congregation of people sharing an interest -- would constitute an eleventh house activity. In that regard, even casual contacts, associations and networking efforts come in here.

According to the researches of both eastern as well as western astrologers, the eleventh house is the house of friends. It is the house which stands for all who are allied to the natives by likeness or sympathy of interest in community and society. It indicates the favorites of the person, flatterers, admirers, associates, adherents, advisors, close acquaintances, well wishers, and supporters. The aspect of casual acquaintances is indicated by the third house. It is important to pay attention to the eleventh bhava to understand the friends one will acquire.

The action in this house can reveal clues about your employer's financial reality. It can show you where you are most likely to make profits. This house governs humanitarian causes and any efforts to correct social ills and injustices.

As per Brihat Parashar Hora Shastra, an auspicious 11th house makes a person happy at all times. 11th house indicates the fructification of efforts of a person. A person is doomed to a lifetime of struggle and very limited gains if the 11th house does not show promise. The pivot around which success revolves in a horoscope is 11th lord and the 11th house. When we assess the horoscope of successful people, we find that all of them have a strong 11th House and 9th house (11th from 11th house).

11th house is known as a badhaka for chara rashi (cardinal signs). The natural sign of badhaka is Aquarius being the natural eleventh sign in the zodiac, and its lord Saturn, tempts us, and punishes us. These badhaka signs and their lords cause obstacles in our life, which are seemingly impossible to rectify for the native. This is especially so if the planets are badly placed. If the planets are well placed and associated with the badhaka sign or lord, then the planets will instead work towards the removal of obstacles, and all the doors of opportunities will be opened to the native, although there will be some obstacles at first, though. As the badhaka acts like Rahu the good results could be reaped through travel, foreigners or foreign destinations.

All planets in 11th are good except when the 11th is a badhakasthana. Lords of 9th, 10th in 11th give continued riches. Lord of 9th, 10th, 11th in 11th give gains from parents, from profession and is also helpful to friends. Bhavas occupied by 11th lord and owned by planets joining the 11th lord confer gains. In the mahadasha in the planet owning 8th and 11th houses, during 1st half of the dasa one discharges debts, he gets personal elevation and the quarrels end. However, during 2nd half of the dasa one will experience effects of 11th house ownership.

All planets give auspicious results when they occupy 11th. Material prosperity during periods of planets related to the 11th is obtained because 11th lord is good for material prosperity and bad for spirituality. Saturn in 11th is good for success and stability. 11th lord in 11th makes the native to progress day by day, and significations of the 11th house will nourish & give wealth. 11th lord is bad only for health aspects and not regarding other matters. Strong Moon in l lth in Aries or Virgo gives two marriages & many sisters. It also causes lung diseases. Mars in 11th in Libra makes one humorous & gives a setback in middle age. With Sun, Moon combination in the 11th one can become a ruler even if born in humble circumstances.

The eleventh house in the horoscope represents your chosen associations. The easiest way to see this is remembering your school days: you were sent to a school without your choice, you were put bin a class and a teacher was appointed to you, also without any choosing on your part, BUT, after a few months you had a few friends, the kids that you played with more, your palls. They were by your choice: from all the kids in your class, you got along better with a few, and they became your friends. This is the essence of the 11th house.

The 11th house deals with your large framework of social contacts. The 3rd house tells the story of the neighborhood in which you live, the 11th house tells where you chose to spend your free time: the extracurricular activities that you have.

The 11th house is where you find your own dreams: some dream of going to the Super Ball once in their life, for others it is visiting the Great Wall of China, and yet someone else dreams of winning the local “green thumb”, these are the dreams that are NOT related to what you do for a living, your status, your family, etc. These are the dreams that are just You, what makes You, the individual, and that brings us to another territory of the 11th house, the presence of your own individuality.

In horoscopes with a strong 11th house, we see many times people that choose to spend time with political activities looking for the betterment of all, or in volunteer work of many kinds. They have many friends and like to experiment with new technology.

In reincarnation terms, this is the house that is mostly concerned with learning how to serve correctly. What is service? Showing people that you care, that things can be better, and giving them what they really need, rather than answering their whimsy wishes.

Planets in the 11th house will bring you situations that will teach you how to take part in the group of your choice, how the power of many individuals will always win over separateness. Beware of the tendency to retreat, scorn and feel superior.

Tenth House

Tenth house is one of the most important houses in the horoscope. The life of the individual mainly depends on tenth house.

It indicates one’s job, business or profession. The individual spends almost more than half of his life to earn money through job or profession to eke out his livelihood and maintain his family.

The Tenth house challenges us to earn respect and recognition in the world at large, making it known as the house of social status and success. Capricorn is strongly influential in its personification of the ever climbing goat. The house represents our motivation and capacity to make vast contributions to the outside world, establishing our social image.

Those ruled by a strong Tenth house are likely to find themselves in a career of authority, disliking bosses and employers pursuing greater power over us. Different planets in the tenth house indicate a different reputation or professional role for the fulfillment of our needs, with the 10th house marking how we project ourselves in the world and what we enjoy within our career.

The Tenth house is linked with social status, ambition, reputation, public image, authority, maturity and the desire for strong success within our professional and business life.

It indicates your appointment, placement, promotion, and advancement. It refers to your sacred rites for your parents. It also refers to your master, and employer.

It shows high standard of life and honors from the Government. It shows your prominence, and seal of authority. It governs your pilgrimage to holy places and command of mantras.

This house is a house of practical vision and clairvoyance, for here we can see clearly what is. Reputation and career are often connected to this house, since the areas where we can see with greatest clarity are those we most often can put to use to make a living. In summary, this house is where we have real vision and can see to do and work. Planets transiting this house may provide moments of insight and clear-seeing as well.

This house governs horse races and your athletic activities. It shows your valor, prowess, learning, and fame. It governs judges, presidents, and aristocracy. It also governs your retirement from worldly activities.

It governs Rain. It refers to the Head of State, and National Leaders. It governs National trade and Economics. The 10th house also reveals about stolen goods taken away by the thieves.

Nineth House

The Ninth house is ruled by the zodiac sign of Sagittarius and by the planet Jupiter. It is the third of the four cadent houses.

This astrology house deals with various things associated with the "higher mind" , together with travel .

The Ninth House is a Fire House. It is the last and most mature of the Fire Houses. Here the inspirational energy of the First House still exists but in a refined manner. Conclusions are now being drawn about what all this inspiration and meaning points too.

In our analogy our child, now an adult, has been through ups and downs in his life but now he asks what does it all mean. Is there a common strand that ties it all together or is there something that he has found that gives him meaning and purpose and inspires him with his life.

The Ninth house allows for us to broaden our philosophical horizons and to realise and come to terms with our highest potentials. The influence of Sagittarius sees a strong interest in travel, other cultures and learning. The Ninth house is where we search for truth through experiences that form our philosophy of life and extend our spiritual thoughts to a place they have never been before.

The Ninth house governs education, religion, spiritual visions and the higher courts. Planets in the Ninth house indicate an unwillingness to accept the conventional barriers and restrictions we are faced with. It is through the Ninth house that we are able to grasp and understand larger concepts, and use these concepts to overcome bigger issues within our life.

The Ninth House is the place where we search for a global meaning to our lives. It where we expand our personal limited ideas into a global vision. It is the place where we find our own God. For some people this may be finding oneness and beauty and challenge and adventure by climbing a beautiful mountain.

For others it may be to visit foreign cultures and to see their way of living. For others it may be a formal religion which explains all aspects of creation. Whatever, this is a place where we expand our limited vision into a global one.

The opposite house the Third was about accumulating knowledge in our local environment, however here in the Ninth House this knowledge comes together into a grander vision of the World. There is something intensely positive and idealistic about this house because it is the area of Meaning and Purpose. It is life affirming and points to some higher order at work, even if this higher order is just to see a beautiful sunset and wonder about the harmony that lies behind it all.

Understanding and accepting that our actions can have far reaching implications for the whole of humanity is an element of this house. Higher education allows us to enhance the world as a whole

This is the house that encourages us to think big and bold, and to consider the future in the broadest terms. There always seems to be a certain amount of preparation required before one can take full advantage of all that the ninth house has to offer.

Traditionally the ninth house is known as the house of long distance travel. Travel of distances greater than 500 miles would be found in this house.

International communication, interactions and relationships with foreigners, distant relatives and in-laws, and higher education are the key areas covered by this important house.

Voyages, foreigners, foreign countries, journeys into the unknown both physical and mental, church, religion, theology, philosophy, beliefs, divination, languages, higher learning, college education, literature, books, publishing, media, law, lawyers, truth, justice, prophecy, expansion and broadening of one's horizons in all ways are covered by the 9th house.

This house also deals with the knowledge gained through long-distance travel, whereby a larger portion of human culture can be experienced by an individual. Therefore this house governs travel of the body as well as the mind, together with foreigners and foreign affairs in general.

It also rules your attitudes and viewpoints on all topics, and your efforts to understand complex issues, including morals and ethics.

The Ninth House represents our desire for union with something greater. It is a house of belief systems, religion and philosophy and challenges us to expand our horizons. This is a house that encourages us to probe deeper in our search for answers to life's mysteries, to extend our minds rather than accepting things at face value. Here we are encouraged to explore beyond our accepted understanding, as we try to discover the meaning of life.

This house drives discussions on publishing, legal and academic matters. It emphasizes the higher mind and mental exploration. It deals with all codified collectivistic thought structures, usually embodied in philosophy, religion and religious institutions, legal systems and laws. And institutions of higher learning - schools, colleges, universities.

This house relates also to the teaching and publishing professions, though which spiritual and philosophic precepts are passed onto succeeding generations.

This house will describe what kind of education we have had, and our attitude in general towards learning and gathering knowledge. It also sheds light on personal beliefs and opinions relating to religious, spiritual or philosophical matters.

This house deals with the collective mind, as opposed to the individual mind, so is therefore associated with universal consciousness and social conscience.

They are very important, in the same sense that the timing on launching a business, starting a project, buying or selling something is important. It is very important to find the best time to do certain things, and the astrology of the launching of things is an art in itself.

That said, it is impossible to counteract "real world" conditions. For instance, you can plant potatoes on the best day of the month astrologically, but will probably not get many potatoes if you've planted in November rather than April.

By the same token, you may get a great deal on a house, but if the house has plumbing problems, you'll still have to deal with them. And yes, plumbing (or electrical, or foundation) problems can be seen in the chart of when you first look at a house, as well as when you close escrow.

Most people think that a compatibility chart tells all there is to know about whether two people are suited to each other. While extremely important and revealing of points of harmony and conflict, other important charts include the time when two people first meet, as well as the composite chart.

The composite chart is derived from the midpoints of the similar planets between two charts, i.e., if one is an Aquarius and the other is a Gemini, as a rule the composite Sun will be in Aries. And if one Moon is in Sagittarius and the other Moon is in Aquarius, the composite Moon is likely in Capricorn, the sign in between Sag and Aquarius.

Then there's the marriage chart. This is actually an Inceptional chart, in that a marriage is the inception of the contract of partnership. Thus it shows the past, present, and future of the individuals, as well as the composite unit.

In any marriage chart it is good to make sure that the rulers of the two people getting married are harmoniously aspected with each other, and if possible, the rulers of each's marriage house (7th house). FYI, "love affairs" are ruled by the 5th house, not the 7th. That's why even if one has a boyfriend or girlfriend for years but has never married, then it cannot be counted as a 7th house activity.

The first marriage is ruled by the 7th house, as are all partnership circumstances throughout the life. The second marriage is ruled by the 9th house, the third marriage by the 11th house, and so on. This is the source of much confusion among amateur astrologers and novices at the craft, and the reason I ask people who come to me for a wedding date whether they've been married before or not.

If I'm planning someone's second wedding, then their significator is the ruler of their 9th house and any planets in that house, and the 7th becomes more of a secondary and even generic influence.

And on a final note, the week of July 11, 2005 was a great week for getting married, since there were many favorable aspects made between the rulers of many signs. I know of several weddings for that week, and somehow it also seems that Jupiter in Libra has brought more marriages to the fore than I remember in other years.

Maybe Libra, the sign of marriage and partnership, is somehow expanded by Jupiter into a hopefulness and an adventure in partnership. Maybe marriages under the influence of Jupiter in Libra are somehow the archetype of what the higher truth of relationship is really all about. So if you were wondering, it was a great week to elope and a great time to get married. There are also other great days coming, but that's another article for another time.

People with a lot of planets in the Ninth House will focus their life on a search for meaning and adventure. They may well be attracted to religions or even cults. They may also excel in danger sports and challenges of all kinds. They may spend much of their life travelling, living abroad or seeing foreign cultures. They will be good teachers and inspirational leaders.

With Neptune in the Ninth House a person will look for spiritual enlightenment by seeing the different cultures of the world of through a formal religion. With Mercury in the the Ninth House a person could be a great travel writer or inspirational storyteller. With the Moon in the Ninth House a person will be nurtured and nourished by having a higher meaning in their life.

The Ninth House shows our future generations such as grandchildren, as well as distant relatives and in-laws.

The bhavas that are most essential to the determination of the quality and character of the horoscope are (1) Lagna, (2) Bhagya and (3) Karma bhavas. The three go together, they are integrated. For, it is easy enough to perceive that as there has to be a wall before there is a good painting on it, so, there has to be a strong lagna to have a good Bhagya and good Karma.

And since Bhagya and Karma are really the same thing in the circular order karma determining the bhagya (destiny) and bhagya determining the karma—they would always go together with the lagna. In fact the trio are inseparable. Every lagna has its bhagya and every bhagya has its karma. The karma determines the bhagya and both effect the individual that is lagna.

Graha Yamal an authoritative ancient text sets forth the sovereign importance of karma bhava and bhagya bhava in these words "The Karmasthana is very important and has to be studied very carefully. If there is no graha (planet) here or this house is not aspected by any graha the native roams about in abject poverty. Also when the bhagyasthana and the karmasthana are without any planet or unaspected, the result is deplorable". So, the dharna bhava (bhagya, dharma and 9th house are synonymous) and the karma bhava have to be rightly evaluated in a horoscope.

Another name for bhagya bhava is Purba Janma (previous birth). A favorable 'daiva' helps the individual to take all hurdles without much difficulty. An unfavorable 'daiva' raises obstacles at every step. It is only when the individual is exceptionally favored with a strong karmasthana, that he can take all the obstacles in his stride and make satisfactory progress in life. The dhana bhava and karma bhava both are also included in bhagya bhava.

The native's wealth, name and fame and distinction may be at their best if there is favorable bhagya yoga in the horoscope. As told before there is a link between previous birth and the worldly happiness and exuberant career of the present birth. In judging the beneficial condition of the bhagya lord we must note the condition of bhagya-karta, which is the secondary ruler of destiny. The lord of the rasi where: bhagyapathi is situated is the ruler or controller of the native's destiny.

If the bhagya-karta planet is happily disposed, aspected by or conjoined with benefic planet or planets the native shall also be lucky. Of course, we must not overlook the quality of the 9th lord; both bhagyapathi and bhagya-karta being favorable will do immense good to the native.

Eighth House

The Eighth house is ruled by the sign Scorpio. The Eighth House is about the support you receive from other people.

This is a Water House and this is reflected in it being the area of deep emotional purification. It is a Fixed Water House and their is nothing transient or superficial about the desires that are expressed here. This House naturally is ruled by and corresponds to the sign of Scorpio. These people are known for their intensity and battling nature but there is also a depth and a raw honesty about this sign.

This is one of the most complex houses of the horoscope. It contains some of the most complicated, important, and challenging issues that we face in life.

All issues such as death, sexuality, secrets, other people’s resources, sacrifice and the unseen world of spirits, astral entities, ghosts or our direct experience with such things govern this house. Anything that is taboo, intense, uncomfortable and deep lingers here.

This house also rules wealth of your spouse or partner, spirituality, insurance, legacies, other people's money, stocks, bonds, taxes, inheritances, wills, surgeries and astral experiences. It is the house of regeneration, and covers death, sex, legal matters, and metaphysics.

Other keywords include: transformation, resources of others, sexuality, transmutation, battles, the Path of Discipleship.

This house rules the bladder, genitals, sex organs, hemorrhoids, muscular system, reproductive system, hernias, rectum, prostate and anus.

The child in our analogy now has to grow up and experience the intensity and depth of the basic life processes, birth, sex and death.

This house often can be a very secretive place since the sensitivity and pain that surround it are so strong. For this reason it's not always easy to see the areas that it controls since they are often hidden deep inside a person. It could be the place where a person locks himself away or has deep emotional crisis. Often what is going on is therefore not apparent to the casual observer.

It is also the area of great personal challenges. No wonder it, and its sign ruler Scorpio, have a notorious reputation.

This is the field of experience in which you are challenged to boldly wrest all the powers of your psyche from the deep, dark underworld; focus all that power with ruthless intensity on the process of breaking down your reality structure into little pieces, then reassemble all the pieces into a new whole. Here is the place where all the taboos of society are addressed; where you dig into your own "internal garbage" to find the treasure hidden there. Think of a compost heap where all the bits of decaying food break down and eventually turn into fertilizer to nourish new growth.

The 8th house is the house of longevity. It covers the span of life. This house is about rebirth, regeneration and the transformation of energy.

According to Hindu theory the beginning of life here below is the beginning of the barrier between the individual soul and God. In other words life begins when the individual soul starts, off the Universal soul to masquerade for its allotted span as an individual—the non-spiritual elements, though themselves also ultimately and basically spiritual—acting as the camouflage to obviously spiritual past.

The Eighth House is where a person is purified and cleansed through an intense meeting with another. It is the area of sexuality and of death. This can be a metaphorical death of the personal self and often this occurs by the deep merging of two people where the self is lost. There is nothing shallow about this house. Everything is felt with an intensity and depth and this is both the good and bad sides of human nature.

There can often be a deep crisis that causes a person to be purged of their negativity. This crisis could show itself in the form of jealousy or rage or hate or possessiveness. Whatever can be said about this House the areas it highlights are never superficial. The life processes are felt intensely here, things such as the birth of a child , or the death of a friend, or the passion involved in wanting to be close to another. This is the area where a person will give everything in order to possess their desires.

We find our mates in the 8th House, but it is through our sexual contact with another person that our "urge to merge" is either fulfilled or dissolved. The sexual nature, for the vast majority
of humans, is either a sure path to personal growth, or it brings about very deep complications that are quite destructive. While it is true, that once we become sexual the beauty, purity, and innocence of childhood is lost, at the same time .. opportunities to grow and evolve are set in motion. It is equally true that once a relationship becomes sexual, the dynamics between the two people are changed forever. There is no going back: The relationship is now on a direct course either for evolution or annihilation. When we mate and marry we join our physical, emotional, and spiritual resources with those of the other person.

As the 8th House is second from the 7th, it involves the resources of our partners, from the standpoints of marriage and of business. In a more general sense, the 8th speaks about money that comes to us from our general dealings with others, and about the rewards that come to us from our creative self-expression.

Sorrow, affliction, vicissitudes of forces are the inevitable incidents to a life on earth and it is from the 8th house that all these have to be calculated. In pessimistic language, the house represents also the house of action. For, action is the source of all vicissitudes of fortunes.

It is also the house of divorce settlements, wills, and legacies as well as the house of royalties, stock dividends, and money which is won or lost coming from any investments we may have made.

Being the opposite House to the Second House which is very much about my Possessions and Values the Eighth House is to do with other peoples Values and Possesions. This is why this house is very much about purification of the individual through meeting the other and their values at an intense level. This may be by desiring their possesions or what they have or desiring them and who they are or by setting your values against theirs. It is also the area of taxes. This is money that is effectively someone elses of which you have only temporary possesion.

Joint financial matters also come under the eighth house. (To the ancients, money is a form of concentrated energy.) The financial dealings in this house do not include earned income (that would be covered by the second house), but do cover money you lend and also owe others. Prizes, gifts, inheritances, tax payments and refunds, bonuses, commissions, royalties, child support, alimony, mortgages, credit, loans and venture capitol are the kinds of transactions ruled by the eighth house.

Any time you need money to fund a big idea, your chances for success would all come under this house. This house also would indicate the state of your partner's prosperity.

Gifts and transactions of all kinds are included in this house, and physical love‹sex and reproduction‹is also included here. (Note that in astrology, the fifth house is love, the seventh house is marriage and the eighth house is sex, all different houses.) Spiritual and highly intuitive or even psychic experiences are often found in this house too (along with the twelfth house). Finally, this house rules endings and things to be discarded. As such, surgery is covered here.

Death

An examination of this house tells much about the nature of an individuals death, the 8th also has a lot to do with our psychological and spiritual death.

The seventh house is described as the house of destruction. The 7th from the 8th house is the 2nd from lagna and the lord of the 2nd is therefore, indicated as the killer. According to this theory the 6th house attitude (i.e. the 6th bhava) is the house of sorrow and affliction. The house which destroys the 6th house attitude ( bhava ) is the 12th (the house of destruction of the 6th i.e. the house of sorrow and affliction ) which has been described as the house of salvation or release. The individual soul merges into the Universal soul, its sojourn on earth is completed. Superficially therefore, the 6th house and the 8th give nearly the same result.

Having planets in this house sometimes causes individuals to obsess over death or have a strong interest in this process. Death is symbolic of change. In the tarot deck, the Death card represents transformation, regeneration and change. All these facts are found within the eighth house.

Along with death comes regeneration and rebirth of our personality. During life we experience certain things that force us to grow and change our outlook. Just like the symbolic Phoenix known in ancient times who represents the death and destruction of self, she is then born again from the ashes. Eighth house individuals remind the Phoenix, they are survivors. They are destined to go through emotional, physical and material death at sometime in their lives.

There is an ancient spiritual saying that reminds us: "Death is but a change of form; life is immortal." Scorpio and the 8th house speak about the death and destruction of form on the one hand; on the other, they speak about the regeneration of form .. the new possibilities that life offers us, so we may enrich ourselves on many levels. The price that we usually have to pay for this renewal is death, release, and detachment.

Many times individuals with planets here, especially the Sun or Moon experience the death of someone close to them at a young age. They begin to have a deep awareness and concern within themselves that people die, things change, and they themselves will one day die. They always have a sense of their own mortality. This urge or awareness is always in their consciousness pushing them forward in life. They try to live each day to the fullest. The true lesson for them is to realize that death is just an illusion, a transition or a transformation. The truth is that nothing ever truly dies. Energy is merely transformed into another level of existence. Just as physics states, “Energy cannot be created or destroyed but is merely transformed into another substance.”

A Person with many planets in the Eighth House may well be a very private person. There will be a lot more to them under the surface than first appears. There will an intensity and depth about them and a sexual magnetism. Much of their life focus will be in battling their internal demons often through deep relationsihips. Ultimately hopefully they will purify themselves in the process.

With Mars in the Eighth House a person will be highly sexual, intense and magnetic. They may see crisis and trouble around them and people plotting against them. With Venus in the Eighth a person will desire to deeply lose themselves in another. They may have a talent for dealing with other peoples money such as being an Investment Banker. With Neptune in the Eighth House a person will achieve a mystical experience by merging with another in sexual union.
